Craig Elliott says he is not too concerned about Shaw Lane AFC conceding six goals in a week.
Just three weeks ago, Shaw Lane had the best defensive record in the entire country.
However, the Ducks conceded three at title rivals Witton Albion and then three against Gresley on Saturday.
Elliott told Non League Yorkshire: “If you look at the last two games, It looks like we haven’t been practising defending at training.
“We weren’t great in the first half at Witton and then we weren’t great in the last 20 minutes against Gresley.
“I think it is just one of those things. We were never going to have a full season of defending like we were, maybe it is just the wake-up call that everyone needed.
“The record was always going to be something difficult to maintain. The record was an amazing, but we were always going to have a shaky period where we concede a few goals. Maybe this is it.
“It has been amazing season. We had an amazing FA Trophy run and we’ve done so well in the league.
“We’re into the final run-in and we need to maintain our concentration levels.”
Leaders Shaw Lane are three points clear with five games-in-hand on second placed Spalding United.
Third-placed Witton are the team to watch though as they have a game-in-hand on Shaw Lane which places them as their nearest challengers. Witton and Shaw Lane also have to play each other again and Elliot expects a close race.
“It is nice to be in contention and it is definitely going to go to the wire.
“I look at the squad they have got and it is strong. They also have a great fanbase.”
Shaw Lane are due to visit Northwich Victoria tomorrow night.
