Frickley’s hero was on loan Doncaster striker Joe Pugh
Hero Joe Pugh fired in-form Frickley Athletic a step closer to completing the great escape last night.
On-loan Doncaster Rovers striker Pugh hit the winner in the narrow 1-0 win over Matlock Town on the stroke of half-time. The victory takes the Blues 39 points – seven clear of the drop zone.
Frickley have taken ten points out of a possible 12 in their last four games.
In Division One South, Stocksbridge Park Steels’ play-offs hopes took another blow.
The Steels were beaten 4-3 at Bracken Moor by Witton Albion. Adam Hinchliffe (2) and Harrison Biggins scored for Stocksbridge.
