Lancaster City 2-3 Brighouse Town
Ben Atkinson scored an unbelievable injury-time winner as Brighouse Town got their play-offs bid back on track with a magnificent victory at leaders Lancaster City.
The victory puts Paul Quinn’s men within five points of fifth-placed Colne with ten games remaining.
The game got off to a spell-binding start as Brighouse midfielder Tom Haigh managed to score an incredible speculative strike from close to halfway line after three minutes.
Lancaster hit back with two quick-fire strikes in first half injury-time. Tom Killfin equalised before Craig Cairney placed the home side in front.
Haigh levelled the game for Brighouse on the hour mark. This time it was a straight-forward tap-in rather than a blockbuster strike.
The winner was one of the last kicks of the game. Former Huddersfield Town youngster Atkinson pounced on a pass from Adam Baker and simply smashed home to spark jubilant scenes.
