Toolstation NCEL Division One
Shirebrook Town 0-3 Selby Town
Selby Town have hope of finishing in the top ten after sealing back-to-back victories for the first time since December.
Selby started this game on fire and fully deserved their victory. Good work from Craig Tonkinson down the right produced an early shot from Wayne Brook which the goalkeeper James King palmed away.
A mistake in the home defence then let Brook in again. His pass across the area fell for Callum Terrell who hit the side netting. Shirebrook nearly got in themselves as they shot wide on three occasions.
Selby kept pressing hard and Will Ramsay shot over when he had options to pass to others in a better position. Soon after Ramsay was through again and this time he put Terrell through but the keeper saved well again. From the resulting corner Dane Mortimer went close for The Robins but his header scraped the bar.
Selby finally broke the deadlock when Ramsay curled in a beauty from about 20 yards which found the top corner. It was a lead that Selby deserved.
Great work from Josh O’Neill put Calum Ward through on goal but once again King kept the hosts in the game as he saved well again.
On the stroke of half time Ramsay headed against the bar from a Lattimore corner. The Shirebrook keeper kept them in it during the second half with a string of fine saves as Selby pressed hard to make the game safe.
With only two minutes left Selby scored two in a minute The first and possibly the goal of the game came from Ward His shot from the edge of the area sailing into the net to give him two goals in two games after his winning goal on Saturday.
Then Callum Terrell got in on the act as he put the game to bed with a neat finish.
