Teversal 0-2 Campion
Campion’s two-goal cushion at the half was enough for them to see off a battling Teversal side in Nottinghamshire.
Top goal scorer Eli Hey opened the accounts for the visitors after 80 seconds, slotting home from a Lee Bradshaw cross.
It was then time for Jacob Buchanan and Hey to link up for Campion’s second goal, the latter laying off Buchanan to give a fair reflection of the first half.
James Bicknall’s men gave a good account of themselves – playing fast-flowing attacking football.
Joshamar Bradshaw playing a one-two with Buchanan who held up the ball for Bradshaw’s run was just an example of some of the intricate football on display.
Goalkeeper Danny Armitage held on to a shot down his throat in the 51st minute – the first time the hosts had made him work.
Lee Bradshaw went on a blistering run down the right wing before getting his shot away – forcing Teversal’s Josh Turton into a full-stretch save to keep his long ranger out, mid-way through the second half.
Buchanan high-power effort could only be parried away by Turton into the path of Talent Ndlovu’s – whose acrobatic kick was blocked inside the six-yard area.
The victory meant back-to-back wins for the Bradford side after convincingly beating fellow promotion-contenders Penistone 5-1 at the Sports Bulk Stadium last weekend.
With results elsewhere widely going their way – Campion closed the gap to the play-off spots to six points, with a game in hand.
Teversal threatened during the second half – Phill Griffiths and Khyle Sargent being particularly potent in and around the 18-yard box.
Bicknall’s men, who profited from a strong first-half display, will welcome fifth-placed Grimsby next time out, as Teversal will travel to Dronfield mid-week.
