Karl Rose says it was an easy decision to return to Frickley Athletic after Lee Morris was sacked on Monday morning.
After four seasons in charge, which ended in taking the side to seventh last season, Rose left after five league games.
Explaining how the return came about, Rose said: “I got phone-call from the chairman on Sunday night saying they were considering making a change and would I be interested? It was a difficult decision to leave the club when I did. I love the club, love the people that are here.
“When it came calling it was too much of a pull not to go back, now I just want to finish the season strong and stay in the division.
“Once we have done that. I want to take this club forward. I’ve shown if given time to build, I can develop players.”
Rose has admitted for the first time that his departure was down to the loss of players from the previous season.
“You have to rebuild a squad at the start of nearly every season, normally you lose two or three,” he said.
“This time because of how well we did last season, it meant we lost seven or eight and the players that were coming in were from the league below. It ripped the heart of the team and the club. I needed a break from it and now I’ve had it.”
Rose confirmed he was taking his players via phone and he also issued a rallying call.
“I think players talk via social media. I want to contact every player via phone, some of them haven’t worked under me before. All the players, fans, board members have to pull in the right direction so we get over the line, starting on Saturday (at Ilkeston).
“I need to prepare the team that is mentally ready for a scrap. We’ll be playing with no fear.”
Rose also spared a thought for his successor and now predecessor Morris.
“Lee’s done a good job, hats off to him, the board made the decision to make the change,” he added.
“Now I’ve got to finish on Frickley’s behalf.”
