Pontefract Collieries manager Craig Parry insists that there will be more “twists and turns” to come as the promotion race reaches its climax.
Pontefract stormed to a massive 4-0 victory over rivals Hall Road Rangers on Saturday, putting themselves into a great position going into the final five matches.
However, Parry, whose side host Brigg Town at Beechnut Lane tonight, says the battle is far from over.
“Saturday was just another game and another three points,” Parry told Non League Yorkshire.
“We’ve got Brigg next and we want to claim three points from that. We then move onto the next game.
“Trust me, and I spoke to a couple of other managers last week about this, there will be more twists and turns from now until the end of the season.
“Look at Hall Road’s run-in, Campion away is not easy. Look at what Campion did to Penistone last week.
“They have also got Rossington away. Rossington are one of the form teams in the league and run by a very good manager in Chris Glarvey.
“Emley have Selby away which is not an easy place to go. We have Knaresborough away which isn’t easy.”
Parry also praised his players for not carried away by their lofty position.
“It is normally be hard to keep everyone’s feet on the ground, but I have such an honest group of lads in the dressing room,” he said.
“There is a very strong bond. It is probably one of the closest knit groups from the management, players down to the volunteers, committee and supporters.
“It is one of the closest knit groups I’ve ever been involved in and they’ll keep their feet on the ground.”
