Emotional Wright hails players

An emotional Josh Wright has spoken of his delight after Worsbrough Bridge sealed their NCEL survival with two games to spare.

The highly-publicised crunch fixture with Teversal went totally to plan as Bridge struck three times in the first half through Lee Morris, Innocent Ituly and Chris White.

Safety has been achieved because of exceptional form since the turn of March. The form, Worsbrough’s best in three years, turned a bad situation around which was very testing for young boss Wright, who hailed his players for their performance against Teversal.

“We were different class today and showed a desire to win the game from the first whistle,” Wright told Non League Yorkshire.

“The first one was a great lob from Lee Morris who came in and showed fantastic commitment.

“The second one was well taken by Enos Huly before an amazing lob from a yard off the byline from Chris White. On the whole it was solid performance.

“On a personal note i would like to congratulate all the players who have given everything for me this year.

“It has been a steep learning curve but one of which i have grabbed hold of with both hands.

“I have had terrific support from the board as well as from my family. I know I have been a nightmare to live with at times.

“Staying up from the position we were in is a magnificent achievement but it is now one we must build on next season.

“I would also just like to show my appreciation to the likes of (Ossett Albion manager) Rich Tracey, (Stocksbridge manager) Chris Hilton and (Ossett Town manager) Grant Black for their support in helping me attract players.

“This season has been a whirlwind for me, but one I hope to build on next year. Finally thank you to Non League Yorkshire for their continued support throughout the year.

“We now look to finish the season on high and go in to the final two games with nothing to lose and I’m sure the lads will be more than up for it.”
