NCEL Groundhop edges nearer

Campion are hoping for their record attendance

The 2017 Toolstation Northern Counties East League Easter GroundHop is almost upon us and the clubs involved are gearing up for big paydays.

Campion certainly appear ready to be the opening fixture of the three-day schedule. The Bradford-based are hopeful of beating their record attendance when they host Dronfield Town on Thursday night.

If 2015’s Groundhop is anything to go by, there will certainly be drama.

Friday contains Pontefract’s trip to Knaresborough Town and Paul Marshall’s (the manager of Railway’s 2002 team which got to the second round proper of the FA Cup) return to Harrogate Railway with Pickering Town, while Saturday sees Division One leaders Hall Road Rangers visit Rossington Main.

The Groundhop is the third time there has been one and the first two has been excellent adverts for NCEL football.
