Garforth Town director Craig Bannister, supporter and player sponsor Phil Briggs and Rob Hunter present Mark Simpson with his memento

Garforth Town fans’ favourite Mark Simpson has been presented with a special memento to mark his 100th appearance for the club.

Simpson received it from Rob Hunter, director Craig Bannister and supporter, volunteer and his sponsor Phil Briggs prior to the 0-0 draw with Staveley on the second day of the 2017 NCEL Easter GroundHop.

The young striker reached the milestone two weeks ago when appearing in the 2-1 defeat at AFC Mansfield.

He has hit the headlines many times in 2017 having scored in ten consecutive fixtures for the Miners, breaking a 20-year-old record.

Simpson is not the only player in West Yorkshire who has reached a 100 appearances for his club recently.

Ossett Albion goalkeeper Brett Souter has also achieved the same feat. The former Shaw Lane AFC stopper has been with Albion since October 2014 and and has become a popular figure at Dimple Wells.
