Paul Stansfield knows what is required if Knaresborough Town want to go one better next season.
Knaresborough had hoped to reach the play-offs, but Stansfield believes a lack of experience was a critical factor in his side missing out.
However, the Manse Lane chief claims his side have still done well to finish in the top nine.
“We’re not far off and it is frustrating,” Stansfield told Non League Yorkshire.
“I think we’re doing as well as we can do with what we got. I’d be interested to know some of the other club’s budgets as opposed to ours.
“Comparatively speaking, I think we have punched above our weight.
“I think I will look back at the season and think what might been because we have lost games we shouldn’t have.
“But there has been too many games where we haven’t taken our chances. We haven’t been ruthless enough in front of goal. Then we have been rocky at the back when we haven’t scored.
“Those are the two areas we have to address in pre-season. There won’t be massive changes because we have a great bunch, the squad is fantastic.
“We just need some leadership and experience, but it isn’t easy to get. We have a list of players who we want to sign, but we’ll be definitely facing competition from other clubs for them.”
Knaresborough conclude their season with a home game against Brigg Town.
