Young managers Derry Robson and David Taylor have been given the go-ahead to lead the revival of Goole AFC next season.

The pair, who are believed to be the youngest bosses in Non League football, were unable to prevent relegation after being appointed to replace Dave Anderson back in November.

Unless there is a dramatic reprieve from relegation due to problems elsewhere, Robson and Taylor and will be tasked with heading up the side in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division next season.

“The duo were appointed during difficult times, being the clubs third management team of the season, they quickly brought stability to the team, recruiting well and some positive results followed,” said a Goole statement.

“Unfortunately those results were not enough to avoid relegation but the club were extremely encouraged by the effort, ethic and desire shown by the team.”

  1. Positive results !!! They went on a run of 10 games without a win including a defeat at Burscough who finished bottom.

  2. Very suprised at that, as for recruiting well, they got relegated! the players they brought in were mediocre at best, but two inexperienced managers couldnt see that! a run of 11 games without a win at one stage, not exactly “positive results followed” is it! Should have left Dave Anderson in charge who was not only building a team to keep them up, but for the future as well, there were plenty of games left to turn it around, ask Prescot! they did it. (3 points deducted too)! No doubt poor Morris & Anderson will be used as an excuse to deflect the blame, but these two angled for it, got it & failed. Shambles..

  3. I must agree with the comments above. It is a strange statement to make when you have just been relegated and are cut a drift at the bottom of the league. Yes there has been some good results but there has also been some very very poor ones. A long losing run, a run without scoring a goal were not good enough. I have been going to Goole for a long time and yes they have a team with spirit but that’s because they have created a team of mates which consequently are not and were not good enough. Good luck to them next season as they may need it.

    1. Goole will be in for a shock next season, its a high standard in the Ncel premier league with some excellent teams & players, its the travelling in the evostik that puts a lot of players off from moving up & playing in it. Half of the team’s from the premier would more than hold their own in the evostik. Wouldn’t be suprised if Goole struggle next season.

  4. Just a few of points to make on this.on a points per game ratio Robson & Taylor have got the best record of any Goole management team in the last 3 years.
Ged says we will blame “poor Morris & Anderson” Yes Lee Morris leaving to go to Frickley didn’t help things but that is what happens in football and you just have to get on with it.As regards Dave Anderson there were reasons why he parted company with Goole but that is not for putting on here but Ged if you want to talk face to face with the club please get in touch.the club do not put blame on the previous management teams, the problem as I see it is Goole have lacked a regular goalscorer not only this season but the previous couple of seasons.
Robson & Taylor really have the club at heart and lets give them a chance
