Farsley Celtic midfielder Lewis Nightingale wants to raise £1000 and beat his brothers for the fifth time at his family’s annual charity football match next month.

Nightingale are slightly downsizing their popular event, in its seventh year, when it takes place at Rawdon Old Boys on Saturday 13th May (kick off 1pm).

The match between Nightingale’s 26+ side and his brothers James and Oliver’s U26 raises money for Cancer Research UK, in memory of their grandfather.

“Last year we raised just short of £3000, but this year we hope to raise around £1000 as we have decided to just do the afternoon match,” Nightingale told Non League Yorkshire.

“I feel it’s been a continued success as the support we get from friends, family and the community is fantastic. Everybody comes together to raise money for such a good cause.

“This year we are solely concentrating on the game and looking to raise as much money during that as possible. They’ll be a usual raffle and refreshments served and hopefully an entertaining game of football.

“This is the 7th game and it’s 4-2 to me, hopefully extend that to five. This year we’ve got Tom Greaves, Conor Sellars, Paul Walker, Will Hatfield and Paddy Miller playing whilst Ryan Watson will be against my team.”
