Handsworth Parramore are mourning the loss of their “most successful manager” Nigel Goodinson.
The 58-year-old, who had been involved with the Amber Parras for over 25 years, collapsed at Sheffield Wednesday’s home match in the Championship against Derby County on Saturday.
In an emotional statement, Handsworth Parramore said the news was “devastating”, adding: “Nigel has been an inspirational cornerstone of our club and is arguably the club’s most successful manager since our formation.
“Nigel’s guidance, help and support has touched everyone who knew him, a level headed and knowledgeable man who will be forever in our hearts.
“We at the club have a responsibility to carry on the legacy that Nigel worked so hard to help create and we’ll do our utmost to do so with the virtues he has instilled in us all.
“His drive, passion, honesty and integrity are the virtues he has instilled in all who played for him and everyone he came in to contact with.
“The word legend is sometimes easily used but Big Nige was just that – a wonderful loving family man whose unconditional love for his family was clear for all to see. His lifelong love Julie was the centre of his world and he was so proud of his son Ryan and a doting granddad to Neve.”
A sad loss for Handsworth, football and most of all his family. Rip Nige
