Nostell Miners Welfare are back in the NCEL after Westella & Willerby decided against accepting a reprieve from relegation.
Westella have instead chosen to rebuild themselves in the Humber Premier League next season.
It is another remarkable twist in the chain of events caused by the Evo Stik League’s decision to boot out crisis club Ilkeston FC.
Nostell chairman Kev Allsop told Non League Yorkshire: “I got the call off (NCEL chairman) David Morrall to say what had happened with Westella this morning.
“Whilst I feel for Westella, I’m ecstatic for my club and hopefully we can put last season behind us and move forward.”
The news will delight many as Nostell were a popular member of the league. They endured a terrible campaign. Results-wise, Nostell got off to a disastrous start and things just didn’t get any better.
They went through four managers – finishing the season under second team boss Mark Booth – plus lots of players. Only three games were won in the league all year.
Hopefully the reprieve will inspire a better season next time around.
