Liversedge manager Jonathan Rimmington has persuaded his captain Tom Jackson to stay as well as agreed a deal with a new striker.
The committal of Shane Sowden is all down to Rimmington’s determination to watch as many games as possible to search for undiscovered talent.
Rimmington watches matches nearly every night of the week, and Sowden caught his eye while playing playing for Drighlington.
“I saw Shane score three great goals in one game I watched so I spoke with his manager and everyone said it was time for him to move on and up,” Rimmington said.
“He is a centre forward that will cause teams problems, he is strong quick and as a definite eye for the spectacular goal.
“When I saw him he reminded me of an Alan Shearer type player and he scored two cracking goals with his feet and a good headed goal from a corner. He will score goals in this league, I am sure.”
Jackson is entering his fourth season with Liversedge.
