Frickley give great account in defeat

Spencer Fearn watched his new-look Frickley Athletic side give a great account of themselves in the 1-0 defeat to National League North side Gainsborough Trinity.

Frickley went down to a first half goal, but they gave their all in hot conditions. Former Garforth Town striker Mark Simpson went close in the second half after dancing past Gainsborough’s defence.

Alex Lill opened the scoring, but Maltby Main went down 2-1 to a Scunthorpe United X1.

Albion Sports drew 5-5 with Hunslet Club. Alex Cusack and Omar Habeeb struck twice, while Rhys Jenkinson also got a goal.

Farsley Celtic lost 4-1 to York City, while Brighouse Town were 4-2 by FC Halifax Town.

Stocksbridge Park Steels had almost 2000 people inside Bracken Moor to watch their defeat to Championship side Sheffield United.

Danny Harris and Ashley Emmett scored for Parkgate in the prestigious friendly with Rotherham United which the League One side won 6-2.

Rossington Main beat a Lincoln City X1 5-1.

Pontefract Collieries eased to a 6-1 victory at Boroughbridge. Mikey Dunn and Vaughan Redford got double. Eli Hey and Jordan Turner made up the rest.
