Frickley Athletic goalkeeper Danny Rusling has dual-signed with Hemsworth Miners Welfare

Hemsworth Miners Welfare have dual-registered highly-rated young Frickley Athletic stopper Danny Rusling.

But Wayne Benn remains on the lookout for another goalkeeper to complete as Rusling, who cannot play for Hemsworth in the Emirates FA Cup and Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

Former Barnsley youngster Rusling, who has played for Maltby Main in the past two seasons and has had trials with clubs in the League of Ireland, could also be recalled by Frickley at any point.

Rusling made his debut in Hemsworth’s 3-1 pre-season friendly defeat to Barnsley u23s.

“We must thank Spencer Fearn at Frickley for allowing Danny to dual-sign with us.” Benn told Non League Yorkshire.

“Spencer rates him very highly and I think he’ll be a great signing. Danny came in for the Barnsley game and showed a great attitude. I was really impressed with him. He did ever so well.

“In the first minute he made a great save.

“There’s always the danger he may be recalled. We are still hunting around for another goalkeeper because it is not an ideal situation where if Frickley’s goalkeeper gets injured and Danny gets called back.

“Regardless of the situation with Danny, I wanted two goalkeepers anyway.

“We have irons in the fire, but for the moment we’re delighted to have Danny on board.”
