Hemsworth Miners Welfare 1-1 Ossett Albion
Billy Law grabbed the late equaliser for Hemsworth Miners Welfare in the entertaining draw with Ossett Albion in Fitzwilliam.
There were plenty of chances at both ends in the pre-season friendly. Hemsworth, perhaps, were the stronger side in the first half.
Dom Blair missed a sitter, while wing wizard Richard Collier went close with a dangerously positioned free kick.
The home side were hit by a sucker punch straight after half-time as Ross Hardaker latched onto a mistake to give Albion the lead.
Hemsworth cranked up the pressure as the game headed towards the final hurdles. Law put the ball over the crossbar in an open goal situation before redeeming himself by racing through and scoring as goalkeeper Liam Flynn raced out.
Ossett’s new signing James Hurtley faced a terrific save from new Hemsworth goalkeeper Danny Rusling who made sure the midfielder’s screamer did not reach the top corner.
All in all, a draw was a fair reflection on proceedings.
