New-look Nostell Miners Welfare were defeated 2-0 by West Yorkshire League Premier Division champions Carlton Athletic last night.

Reprieved Nostell, who are still assembling their side under new manager Des Hazel, gave a good fight and look in a far better shape than some would have predicted.

Goals on either side of the interval secured the win for Carlton.

Chris Lever and Luke Harrop struck as Eccleshill United defeated Brighouse Town 2-0.

Ossett Town won 3-1 in the Mark Gorry Foundation charity match at Worsbrough Bridge.

Worsbrough took the lead through Rob Oldham, but Ossett hit back with Kai Hancock (2) and Jake Quickenden.
