Handsworth ease past Widnes in Cup

Emirates FA Cup

Joe Thornton scored one of Handsworth’s goals

Handsworth Parramore eased themselves into the Preliminary Round with the 5-0 hammering of Widnes.

Jonathan Hill, Joe Thornton, Aaron Moxam (2) and Danny Buttle were the Parramore goal-scorers.

Harrogate Railway were trailing 2-0 with 25 minutes remaining until an unbelievable fight-back saw them snatch a 4-3 victory at Thackley in Liam Gray’s first game in charge.

The magic of the FA Cup never fails to disappoint when Railway are around. An own goal and a Joe Hughes strike had put Thackley in control.

That was until Elliott Williams struck twice and Michael O’Connell put Railway in front. George Eustance did equalise for Thackley late-on, but the final word went to Railway’s Luke Stewart.

Tom Roebuck, Sam Fewkes and Joshua Gibson guided Hallam to a 3-0 win over Bootle.

Lewis Taylor (2) and Alex Robinson secured Pickering Town a great 3-0 success at Billingham Town.

Albion Sports are through after two early goals – from Omar Habeeb and Danny Facey – guided them past Nelson.

Hall Road Rangers were left heartbroken as a last minute goal denied them a replay at AFC Mansfield. Josh Batty’s effort appeared to have secured a draw in the 2-1 defeat.

New-look Maltby Main were beaten 4-1 at Cammell Laird.

Athersley Rec lost 5-0 at West Disbury & Chorlton.

Ten-man Garforth Town bravely went down 3-1 at Sunderland RCA. Goalkeeper Paul Hagreen was controversially sent off when the scores were 1-1. Sunderland only added their third goal during injury-time.
