Bates thanks Non League Yorkshire

Ossett Albion youth manager Terry Bates

Ossett Albion u19s and u21s boss Terry Bates has thanked Non League Yorkshire for their help with the search for a goalkeeper for the Blackburn Rovers academy friendly last week.

The former Nostell Miners Welfare manager put out an appeal as no-one currently with the club was available.

Bates then had 12 or 13 goalkeepers contact him off the back of the article.

He won’t be turning those stoppers away either as they have been invited to a training session with former goalkeeper Neil Bennett on Thursday.

Bates said: “I can’t thank James (Grayson) enough.

“I rang him last Wednesday to explain the situation and see if there was anything he could do to help myself and Albion.

“Straightaway he told me what he would do and he assured me that I’d get interest. That is probably an understatement because the reaction was unbelievable.

“I’d like to thank everyone who contacted me and I’m glad that we are giving another great opportunity to a lot of young goalkeepers who contacted us by inviting them to the Neil Bennett session.

“I should also say if you’re a manager and you need help finding a goalkeeper or just players in general at short notice then I recommend James as someone to speak to because he’ll be able to help.”

Ossett u19s and u21s are always on the lookout for new players and Bates can be contacted on 07831190418.
