Attacker Lee Turner scored a hat-trick in Garforth’s 6-0 win over Clipstone
Lee Turner’s rare hat-trick helped Garforth Town kick-start their season in spectacular style.
Two very early goals set Garforth on the path to victory. New talisman Calum Ward smashed in the opener after just four minutes. Turner soon doubled the lead.
The fact that even Simon Poole got on the score-sheet showed just how much things went right for Garforth. The versatile man netted a rare goal in the 16th minute after great build-up play from the Miners.
Another great team move killed the contest close to half-time, with Turner applying the finishing touches.
There was a sad delay in the second half when Clipstone’s Rob Paling had to be taken to hospital.
After play resumed, Luke McCrum headed home the fifth goal before Turner secured the match-ball in the dying seconds.
