Eccleshill United manager Sean Regan

Sean Regan says Eccleshill United put a lot of things right with the victory over Glasshoughton Welfare on Wednesday night.

Regan was left stunned by the 4-1 reverse to Shirebrook Town on Saturday. However, he was proud of the way his team responded to the defeat when they faced Glasshoughton.

“It was a really positive night and we got exactly the reaction we wanted from Saturday,” Regan told Non League Yorkshire.

“We got the reaction we wanted from every single player.

“Although I think it was deserved, we were a little tense at times because they just wanted to perform and put Saturday’s performance and defeat to one side.

“Saturday is history now. It was just a blip and very out of character for us, but we have put behind us and shown what we are capable of against Glasshoughton.”

Regan, in his second full season as manager of Eccleshill, also reserved praise for his key man Luke Harrop, whose superb opener against Glasshoughton paved the path to victory.

“Luke Harrop always shows great desire going forward,” he said.

“That’s part of his natural game. He’s very unpredictable going forward and his finishing against Glasshoughton shows what he capable of.”

Eccleshill visit Selby Town tomorrow.
