Pickering Town manager Paul Marshall wants clarification on how many teams will be promoted out of the Premier Division this season.

With the much-needed Midland League expected to be in place for the 2018/19 campaign, a major restructure across the country is set to take place.

It has led to rumours that say that the team who finishes second in the Premier Division will win promotion.

“Everybody keeps talking about the restructuring and I have it in my mind that there is going to be another league at steps 3 & 4,” Marshall told Non League Yorkshire.

“I’ve read it somewhere, unless I have dreamt it.

“I don’t particularly understand what’s happening, but someone has told me that if you finish second or first that you’ll go up.

“It needs clarifying by the FA as to what’s happening with promotion this year.

“I think there is a lot of confusion across the board.”

Pickering, who finished second last season, make the journey to Barton Town today for their third league game.

“We’ve made a positive start with four points out of season with three clean sheets, one coming in the FA Cup,” he added.

“We have a good squad, all hard-working lads who are all enjoying their football.”
