Lee Garside scored two quick-fire goals as Athersley Rec put the upheaval of the last few days behind them with an impressive 2-0 win over Albion Sports.

Club founder Pete Goodlad was back in charge of the Rec following the exit of Wayne Thompson.

He is set to remain at the helm until the appointment of a new manager on Monday.

Goodlad will have been proud of his Rec side because they put in a full-blooded display to beat Albion.

Well-known local striker Steven Bennett was back in the Rec line-up and he was hugely influential for them. He set up Garside for the opener on the half-hour mark.

Within three minutes, the former Stocksbridge and Worsbrough forward had added to his tally with a similar goal.

Ross Duggan scored a dramatic stoppage time winner as Maltby Main won 2-1 at winless Parkgate.

Brad Kerr scored on his Parkgate debut in the 56th minute and that put them on course for victory until things unraveled in the last 15 minutes.

Liam Flint equalised for shortly after Parkgate’s Lebrun Mbeka was sent off.

Goals from Aaron Moxam (2), Jonathan Hill and Jon Froggatt guided Handsworth Parramore to a 4-2 success at Bottesford Town.
