Ammers are outstanding at Welfare

Toolstation NCEL Division One

Glasshoughton Welfare 0-4 Yorkshire Amateur

It is great to see Yorkshire Amateur attacker Danny Naidole back playing in the NCEL

Rampant Yorkshire Amateur stormed to victory at Glasshoughton Welfare with an electric and unstoppable attacking display – and injured Ash Flynn wasn’t even playing.

The front three of Fernando Moke, Danny Naidole and their new signing Danny Maw were outstanding in the win which was sown up by half-time.

Glasshoughton can’t beat themselves up over a defeat to a team that is going to be challenging for promotion. There was not a lot wrong with their performance, the Ammers were just far too powerful. The positive they can take is that their main man, the showman Ryan Poskitt, got 90 minutes under his belt following his return from injury. It is also worth noting that other key men such as Gareth Hunter and Ash Scothern were missing.

Because of a poor display during the win at Selby Town on Saturday, the Ammers were extremely fired up. Former Brighouse Town title-winner Naidole, a brilliant player who the NCEL has missed in the last few years while he has been playing in the West Yorkshire League, headed home the opener after 16 minutes.

The visitors were well in control and more goals were inevitable. A fast-flowing move down the left ended with Maw scoring on his debut. If he shows the kind of form he showed for Bardsey, he will be a huge asset for them.

The choice for goal of the night was a toss up between the third and fourth. Glasshoughton were slightly the orchestrators of their own downfall with the third as Lewis Akeister’s shocking pass led to the Ammers mounting a ferocious counter-attack. The movement was sublime as Maw laid a pass to Moke, whose touch was unbelievable as he wrong-footed the Welfare centre-back to go one-on-one with goalkeeper Arron Murphy. The finish was the easy part.

The Ammers added the fourth on the hour with Naidole taking the ball down 30 yards away from goal and unleashing an incredible strike into the top corner. That was worthy of the £5 admission alone.
