Hall Road Rangers 2-0 Gedling Miners Welfare
Fraser Hansen scored a debut goal as Hall Road Rangers edged past Gedling at Haworth Park.
Gedling started the better of the two sides as they pressed the Hall Road backline, they would continue to do this throughout the rest of the game. However, it was Hall Road that took the lead in the 15th minute when debutant Fraser Hansen struck a half volley which hit the back of the net.
This was the only real goal scoring action of the half as most of it was contested in the midfield areas with both sides battling each other for control of the game. The latter stages of the half saw a Hall Road penalty appeal as Tom Bennett believed he was unlawfully bundled to the ground by a Gedling defender. The referee thought otherwise and told Bennett to calm down as the midfielder was incensed by the lack of a penalty.
The second half contained better goal scoring chances from both sides. The first of these came for Hall Road when Louis Bruce headed over the bar from a Chris Spinks delivered corner kick.
Gedling then had their best opportunity of the whole match after a well worked counter attack, they saw their effort come back off the post which signalled that it wasn’t going to be their day.
Hall Road’s lead was doubled in the 71st minute through a Louis Bruce header from a well delivered free kick. This goal was very important from a Hall Road point of view as it settled the players down and also proved to be a fairly comfortable advantage. They then managed to see out the rest of the game which ensured their victory.
