Harrogate Railway 2-3 Barton Town
Barton Town grabbed their first win of the season after holding on at Harrogate Railway, who forced a dramatic last ten minutes.
The Swans travelled to Harrogate with only one point on the board, but came away with three more in a battle at Station View.
The home side started the better with Elliott Williams having a shot well saved and player/manager Liam Gray firing wide from the edge of the box.
Barton replied in their own fashion though with half chances from Craig Hogg and Luke Salas.
The first clear cut chance came the visitors way through, James Williamson tapped the ball in following Railway failing to clear a corner and a cross landing in at the back post. The defender was stood unmarked, allowing him to score.
Railway replied with a great chance as Dan McDaid crossed for Williams but he couldn’t beat Oliver Thane, who palmed it away.
The first half came to close with Barton doubling their lead. Hogg found himself one on one with James Webster, slotting it past the keepers left.
The visitors started the second half the better side. With great chances to make the match sealed and delivered. Hogg rushed a shot and fired over, before Fabio Snow was denied by a great save.
Barton got their third though. Thomas Waudby scored, hitting his shot into the bottom corner at the back post.
Railway took command after conceding. Pressure mounted as Williams saw his shot fall into the path of Mendes Dionisio, who put it away.
With one goal back, the home side pushed further and were awarded a penalty five minutes later. Williams gave Thane no chance with fierce drive down the middle.
They kept the momentum going, but couldn’t manage to find an equaliser and Barton Town held onto their first three points of the season.
