Christian Fox’s thriving Selby Town produced an out of this word performance to defeat Nostell Miners Welfare 8-1 to under-line their own promotion credentials again.
If there was anyone who doubted Fox then they won’t be now after a ruthless display against a Nostell team that has made massive strides recently.
Twelve months ago this weekend, Selby slumped to a dire 2-2 draw against Nostell at home. A few months later they became one of just four teams to lose to Nostell all season in an embarrassing defeat.
Fox has created a team which has a frightening attack. That was evident in the huge victory.
Sensationally Selby had the match wrapped up at half-time as they were leading 6-1.
Liam Flanagan netted a nine minute hat-trick, Brad Freer hit a worldie, Joe Dale got in on the act as did Casey Stewart.
In a quiet second half, Dale and Flanagan added to the damage.
AFC Emley lost 2-1 at home to Grimsby Borough – Lewis Dickinson got Emley’s goal.
Scott Manning, Charlie Flaherty, Jonny Irving, Ben Hardy and Andy Cooper scored as Eccleshill United won 5-1 at East Yorkshire Carnegie.
Declan Howe gave Rossington Main a solitary goal win against Dronfield Town.
That was a superb performance from Selby. The first 15 minutes were even, perhaps with Nostell the better side.
I did like the enthusiasm of the Nostell fan calling out players by their numbers. Number 9 was called out so many times, I thought that someone was going to bring out a Chinese takeaway.
Number 9 was certainly an omen if you add the goals together, in favour of Selby Town. Anyway the game must have been a spectacle to watch . Unfortunately i can no longer see them play because i live in Spain but follow them on social media. Is there anyone out there that could Video any home games and put them on Youtube. It would cheer me up no end. UP THE ROBINS. — POSITIVE THOUGHTS – NO NEGATIVE PEOPLE
