Three second half goals enabled FA Cup heroes Ossett Town to progress into the next round of the FA Trophy.

The 3-0 win over Goole means the possibility of playing Ossett Albion in the next round remains as their local rivals face a replay at Droylsden on Tuesday night.

It was a professional performance from Ossett, just a few days after the side played 120 minutes in the FA Cup it was clear some of the side were still feeling it in the first half of what was a close affair, both sides having chances. No one going closer than Alex Peterson whose header was flicked just over and Kai Hancock who lifted the ball over the advancing Ben Saynor in the Goole goal.

The second half was a completely different game, Seon Ripley replaced Kai Hancock was straight into the action, winning a free kick on the right hand side that was whipped in by Steven Ridley.

A scramble in the box followed before Ashley Jackson got a foot to the ball and diverted it into the goal.

Town continued to look the stronger, and again it was from a set play that the goal came. Danny South flicked on a corner that was met by centre back Alex Low who had his back to goal. He acrobatically performed an over head kick and put the ball past Saynor, off the bar and in – the second Town centre half to score an over head kick this season after Josh Snowden at Ossett Albion on Bank holiday Monday.

Black took the opportunity to replace Ridley and Jackson as the game played out, however Ripley and Sam Wright are now both a doubt for Campion on Tuesday in the WRCC as they struggled through the final stages.

That however, did not stop Ripley slicing open the Goole defence one more time, playing through Danny South who lifted the ball over Saynor to make it 3-0.

Scarborough Athletic are out after losing 5-2 to South Shields. Michael Coulson and Luke Dean got Scarborough’s goals.

Stocksbridge Park Steels also suffered a surprise 4-1 home defeat to Atherton Collieries. Luke Mangham scored for Steels in his comeback match.
