Emirates FA Cup
Shaw Lane AFC 2-1 Barrow
Heroic Shaw Lane AFC are facing the prospect of a mouth-watering tie with a Football League club after Damian Reeves scored a late winner to fire them into the first round proper.
The heroes of Barnsley put the two leagues difference between the sides to one side to pull off a stunning upset over the National League big boys.
Inside a packed Sheerien Park, it felt like a good day for Shaw Lane, especially after a fantastic start which saw Spencer Harris head them into the lead.
Barrow equalised straight after the interval from the penalty spot – Byron Harrison converted.
The moment of glory came with 15 minutes to go. Reeves – whose name will be familiar to a lot of Barnsley fans as he scored the goal for Altrincham in 2015 which knocked the Tykes out of the Cup – superbly turned and hit a rasping shot to spark scenes of jubilation.
Barrow went for broke, but Shaw Lane weren’t to be denied. Barrow went down in style as Jimmy Dunne was red carded for a wild challenge on Abadaki.
The draw for the first round of the FA Cup is live on BBC Two on Monday at 19:00 BST.
