Rollinson goes bald for his mum

Worsbrough Bridge’s Calan Rollinson has shaved his head for charity and to also cheer his mum up as she recently received some bad news

Worsbrough Bridge midfielder Calan Rollinson is walking around with a bald head after shaving his head to cheer his mum Lucille up, whilst also raising nearly £2000 for charity.

The youngster only started fundraising two weeks ago after his mum received some bad news.

Calan, the brother of Glasshoughton Welfare key man and NLY Community Sport’s Connor, has collected just over £1000 in online donations for Cancer Research UK. Cash donations are going to the ward that his mum is on.

Calan was joined in the challenge by his best friend and Ossett Town’s Liam Owen (pictured with Calan below) who also shaved his head.

Calan told Non League Yorkshire: “I’m overwhelmed by the kindness and support shown by everyone who has contributed and held us in their thoughts.

“I can’t believe how much we have raised in just under two weeks. It means a lot to my family because it has been a tough couple of weeks. I’d also like to thank Liam for joining me by shaving his head too, he’s a real friend.”

The pair had their makeover on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, a hairless Calan then braved the windy conditions as an unused substitute during Worsbrough’s defeat at Selby Town – once the scene of his brother’s greatest moment.

You can still contribute to Calan’s fundraising by donating on his JustGiving page.
