Non League legend Mark ‘Willy’ Wilson made his playing comeback for Worsbrough Bridge in the 4-1 defeat at Selby Town yesterday.
Wilson played 72 minutes of the clash which saw Worsbrough take a first half lead through captain Chris Walton.
He was one of their better players during his time on the field.
The former Emley and Bradford (Park Avenue) midfielder, who is nearing his landmark 1000th career appearance, has been unable to play for the past few months because of an arm injury.
Until recently he was the manager of Retford United. He signed on for Worsbrough after the appointment of Lee Morris as their new manager.
Wilson is best known for being part of the legendary Emley side who played Premier League side West Ham United in the FA Cup third round in 1998.
He has been a superb ambassador for the Non League game and he has many stories – including ones involving flammable materials, silly masks and inflatable hammers’.
