Worsbrough Bridge 3-2 East Yorkshire Carnegie
Mark ‘Willy’ Wilson’s landmark 1000th career game was a complete success as Worsbrough Bridge held on to beat East Yorkshire Carnegie at Park Road.
Non League legend Wilson led the teams and was presented with a commemorative shirt prior to kick-off by his mentor Ronnie Glavin, his manager during their glory days together at Emley in the 1990s.
Carnegie threatened to spoil the party as Jordan Harrison’s fine strike gave them an early lead.
However, Worsbrough equalised when Ben Grech-Brooksbank turned home James Handley’s deflected effort.
Within four minutes, Worsbrough were ahead. Key man James Kay’s brilliant delivery to the far post was met by veteran player/manager Lee Morris, who neatly headed home.
Grech-Brooksbank added the third in the second half after breaking clear.
Busilana Kashilembo set up a nervy finale with a goal for Carnegie as Wilson left the field early to a standing ovation.
Carnegie were reduced to ten men as Tom Redding saw red for a wild lunge on a through on goal Grech-Brooksbank.
