Former Brighouse Town manager Paul Quinn is the new manager of Shaw Lane AFC – an appointment which brings an end to a week-long search for Craig Elliott’s successor.
Quinn ends his six-month sabbatical from football to take up the post. Rated as one of the best young managers around, Quinn did a magnificent job during his six years at the helm of Brighouse.
He is already well thought of by Shaw Lane’s players, supporters, volunteers and officials as he was manager of Brighouse on the tragic night that Dan Wilkinson passed away. He was also involved in the medical response after Dan collapsed.
Quinn said: “Having enjoyed a period of time to recharge the batteries I am delighted to have been appointed at Shaw Lane.
“This is a club I have admired for a number of years in terms of their drive and ambition both on and off the field. It also goes without saying I have created a deep emotional attachment with the club over recent times.
“Taking all that into consideration and my own ambitions as a manager both myself and the Chairman agreed this was an excellent fit. It is always a challenge when any club has to change their manager mid season for whatever reason and my role, along with John Reid and the backroom staff, is to push this talented group of players forward over the coming months.
“Finally I am really looking forward to helping the club to continue to build its profile in the community which for me is an integral part of any successful football club.”
Reed and Dave Thompson are part of Quinn’s coaching staff.
