T’Nique Fishley scored the second goal in Yorkshire Amateur’s victory at Retford

Yorkshire Amateur joint manager Neil Sibson praised his side for showing patience in the 2-0 victory at Retford United.

Danny Maw and T’nique Fishley’s second half goals earned the promotion-chasing side all three points against Retford, who managed to see out the game with no sending-offs this week.

Sibson told Non League Yorkshire: “We knew we were in for a battle as Retford have a new coaching team and have signed a lot of new players who were out to impress.

“We totally dominated the first half and it was beyond belief that we went into the interval at 0-0

“Our message at half time was keep doing what we were doing well and hopefully we will get our intended outcome .

“Brice Tiani went on a mazy run and crossed the bell onto Danny Maw’s waiting head for the first goal.

“Ash Flynn followed up with some good work to set up T’nique Fishley to put the game to bed.

“We controlled massive parts of the game and we were very pleased with the performance.

“Our bell retention was top draw today along with a lot of other things and we will take this forward into the weekend’s game against Hallam.

“Retford are a good side with a lot of new additions who are doing their team proud and I’m sure they will take points of a lot of teams in the second half of the season.

“Overall we are very happy with our performance and a clean sheet. Our run continues.”
