The sending-off of goalkeeper David Reay was a pivotal moment as Stocksbridge were beaten in the local derby with Sheffield FC at Bracken Moor.

The scores were blank when Reay saw red ten minutes into the second half. Reay made an early exit after handling the ball outside the penalty area as Leon Osborne attempted to go past him.

It meant Steels captain Liam McFadyen had to go in goal.

Sheffield’s free kick hit the wall and incredibly Stocksbridge actually took the lead in the 75th minute with ten men. Brodie Litchfield supplied the final pass for Joe Lumsden to fire the Steels in front.

Stocksbridge were only ahead for a minute as Francis scored his first senior goal for Sheffield after latching onto the rebound from a Reon Potts effort which had been saved by McFadyen.

A thunderbolt from Sheffield captain Adam Chapman won the points for the visitors in the 81st minute.
