Liversedge have signed popular goalkeeper Sam Dobbs, who returns to Clayborn after a two-year sabbatical from the game.
Dobbs is a firm favourite with followers of Non League football in West Yorkshire because of his productive spells with Nostell Miners Welfare, Ossett Town and Pontefract Collieries, among others.
The Whitby-born stopper was ‘Sedge’s goalkeeper during the Alan Colquhoun-led campaign in 2014/15. Dobbs was arguably their player of the year because of a series of one-man shows, notably during the draw at Garforth Town and the stunning victory at eventual champions Shaw Lane.
Jonathan Rimmington told Non League Yorkshire: “He’s been concentrating on his Personal Trainer business for the last couple of years, but he liked what I said to him and he couldn’t wait to sign.
“I was the under 19s manager during his last spell with us, but I went to most first team games and he was phenomenal.
“I was at both the Garforth and Shaw Lane matches and he was outstanding. Garforth could have had six or more that day, but apart from the one goal, he would not beaten.
“As for the Shaw Lane game, his save in the last minute of stoppage time was out of this world.”
Dobbs will compete with Harry Stead for the number one jersey.
