Nostell Miners Welfare have pulled off a “coup” signing after capturing former NCEL Premier title-winner Joe Thornton.
The striker, who has played for Athersley Rec, Pontefract Collieries, Tadcaster Albion and Staveley Miners Welfare, joins from Handsworth Parramore. He won the Premier title in 2015 with Shaw Lane.
Joint manager Jason Dodsworth told Non League Yorkshire: “It is an unbelievable coup for us.
“Joe signing more than hugely improves a squad which is strong already. We scored six on Saturday and now we have Joe as well in the squad. I can’t wait to see him in action for us.”
