West Riding County Cup
Tadcaster Albion 0-2 Selby Town
Selby Town pulled off their greatest scalp in years by beating a strong Tadcaster Albion side to reach their first County Cup final since 1993.
Regardless of whether they win promotion or not, Christian Fox has truly proved himself to be the club’s messiah with their latest victory. Written off by a host of critics in the summer as relegation fodder, Fox has punched them squarely in the face by creating a play-offs chasing team, as well as leading them into a Cup Final – where they will face Farsley Celtic.
Selby rode their luck as Tadcaster hit the woodwork several times.
The first goal came via magic man Joe Dale, who latched onto goalkeeper Paul Hagreen’s long punt forward in the 51st minute to score.
Striker Liam Flanagan added the second with 17 minutes remaining. He got past three defenders before slotting home.
