Nostell Miners Welfare 4-1 Selby Town
Jack Owen, the new Showman in town, hit a hat-trick as resurgent Nostell Miners Welfare delivered another eye-catching performance by beating promotion-chasing Selby Town in a very convincing manner.
Quick and fearless Owen came up with the goods as Selby had a very rare bad night – possibly their worst since Christian Fox took charge.
The game had been end-to-end by the point when young Billy Mole placed Nostell in front. Mole pounced after Selby goalkeeper Paul Hagreen spilled a cross.
The home side were in dreamland at half-time as two quick-fire goals on the stroke of the 45th minute gave them a very comfortable lead. Owen initially got his first of the night before scoring again after Hagreen was caught out.
Magic man Joe Dale brought Selby back into the contest with 20 minutes to go, but it was too little too late.
More poor defending from Selby saw Owen complete his hat-trick in the closing few minutes.
