Ben Thornton fired red hot Hallam into the play-offs with the last minute winner to earn his side a 4-3 victory in the epic contest with rivals Winterton Rangers.
Hallam’s sixth straight league victory puts them in a fantastic position with eight games remaining.
Along with the last word, Thornton also had the first. He fired Hallam ahead on the half-hour. That triggered the end-to-end battle as former Selby Town forward Luke Anderson immediately equalised for Winterton.
He then scored again three minutes later before Mitch Dunne levelled matters.
Anderson completed his hat-trick in the 50th minute and Winterton’s second lead lasted all of eight minutes this time.
Dunne was brought down and Jake Currie scored from the resulting penalty.
Hallam goalkeeper David Darwent was needed to make a fantastic save from a free kick towards the end before Thornton made himself the hero.
