Super ‘Sedge deservedly win at Garforth

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Garforth Town 1-3 Liversedge

Eyes on the ball: Liversedge’s Joe Walton and Garforth’s Luke McCrum in battle last season

Joe Walton hit two as powerful Liversedge started their epic month of fixtures with a deserved victory at Garforth Town.

In the first instalment of a marathon of games – 12 more to be precise – ‘Sedge were by far the better side. Garforth were surprisingly lacklustre, but it must be said that their make-shift centre-half pairing of Jack McMurrough and Dan Coupland could not get near Walton and his attacking associates.

‘Sedge gained the lead in the fifth minute through a Daniel Farrar tap-in.

The visitors appeared to have put the game to bed straight after the interval following Walton’s excellent turn and shot.

However, Simpson’s finish from two-yards out sparked a mini-revival and for a few minutes, Liversedge were on edge as the Miners created several chances.

It was not to be for Garforth as Walton would eventually kill the contest.

‘Sedge even had the chance to add a fourth, but Farrar spectacularly sent his penalty out of the ground and towards the M1. He certainly won’t be looking forward to the release of the video.
