Toolstation NCEL Division One
East Yorkshire Carnegie 2-3 Selby Town
Liam Flanagan got the winner as patient Selby Town fought back twice to kick-start their flagging play-offs bid.
The much-needed win, their first in five attempts, keeps alive the dream of a return to the Premier Division in time for their centenary season.
Defeat at East Yorkshire Carnegie may have left Glasshoughton Welfare and Hallam to battle it out in the pulsating race to clinch the final play-offs spot. However, Christian Fox’s men are hanging on in there.
But in a must-win encounter, boy did they do it the hard way as Carnegie led twice.
Flanagan cancelled out the opener with a brilliant free kick. Gary Collier was called upon to make it 2-2.
Selby came on strong in the second half, but it took until the 76th minute for Flanagan to make himself the hero.
Selby face FC Bolsover on Tuesday night before taking on Dronfield Town on Thursday. Both games are at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium.
