Lee Morris has hailed his Worsbrough Bridge players for their tremendous efforts in past few weeks.
Worsbrough are enjoying their longest unbeaten run since the glorious Chris Hilton years, after drawing their last four games.
However, Morris admits that his side “need a win” as their last victory was at FC Bolsover in early January – 12 matches ago.
That’s why Bridge remain in relegation danger, but there are plenty of games-in-hand to come and Morris is convinced points will come after what he saw during the stalemates with Dronfield Town on Saturday and at resurgent Nostell Miners Welfare on Monday night.
“We’re on a good run and we need to continue it because we are not out of the woods yet,” Morris told Non League Yorkshire.
“Monday was another point and another point gained. We are four undefeated, the longest run since Chris (Hilton) was the manager so fair play to the players.
“It is a great effort from the lads, especially Monday night when we played two games in three days. These are lads who work as well. You have to take your hat off to them because everyone has run their blood to water.
“We do need a win, but I’m sure it will come.”
Bridge host play-offs chasing Campion at Park Road this afternoon and the Barnsley-based side may feel confident of causing an upset.
Grimsby Borough, Selby Town and Eccleshill United are just three of the sides who have come unstuck at Worsbrough recently and Morris admits the Park Road pitch plays a major role.
“We know how to play our pitch and I don’t think a lot of players like playing at Worsbrough,” he said.
“We have the slope and it is difficult for teams to come and play their passing game, especially the top teams.
“We have to use that to our advantage and we have done against the likes of Hallam, Selby, Eccleshill. Yorkshire Amateur only scored in the 95th minute to win it.”
