Vill Powell is to remain in charge of Brighouse Town for a second season. Brighouse confirmed this prior to the 2-1 win over Prescot Cables.

Powell has endured a difficult first term as the club flirted with relegation. However, Brighouse have picked up some fantastic results recently to move well clear of danger.

“Vill has done a remarkable job after being left with just five of last season’s successful squad to form the foundations of a squad,” chairman Charlie Tolley told the Brighouse Echo.

“He is a top qualified coach with excellent man management skills and has certainly brought players in over the season who will form a solid backbone to other targets he has already marked down to come to the club.

“It is his first job in management and he has shown the committee and myself he is the man for the job to take us forward and he has already mapped out his pre-season and further plans for the club which we will be revealing in the next few weeks.”

Aaron Martin and Mohammed Ibrahim scored in Brighouse’s victory over Prescot.

Relegated Goole AFC beat high-flying Trafford 1-0 – Declan Howe got the goal.

Ossett Town were beaten at Radcliffe Borough.
