Title-chasing Pontefract Collieries prepared for one of the biggest games in the history in the most perfect way by winning 4-2 at Bottesford Town.
The victory means the Colls can go to AFC Mansfield on Wednesday night knowing that three points will put within one win of the Evo Stik League for the first time in the club’s history.
The Colls did not mess around at Bottesford. Eli Hey, Aaron Moxam and Spencer Clarke put them into a 3-0 lead by the 52nd minute.
Bottesford then pulled two goals and the result was in the balance until Moxam killed the hosts off with ten minutes to go.
Athersley Rec stormed to a 5-2 victory over out-of-sorts Worksop town.
Kai Hancock got two and he was joined by Lee Garside, Ben Walker and Jack Briscoe on the score-sheet.
Jonathan Hill scored two of Handsworth Parramore’s goals in the 3-1 victory over Harrogate Railway. James Ashmore also found the net.
