‘Show Your Support for Luce’ Day has raised £1106.61 for charity following the clash between Worsbrough Bridge and Glasshoughton Welfare on Monday night.
The money raised will be spread across three charities – Leukaemia UK, Bloodwise and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.
The Toolstation NCEL Division One encounter which saw brothers Calan and Connor Rollinson compete against each other was also used to raise awareness of the symptoms of acute myeloid leukaemia – a severe form of the disease that their “Mam” Lucille has been battling since October.
Lucille was present for the game and she embraced her devoted sons after the final whistle.
Both teams wore ‘Showing Our Support for Luce’ t-shirts during the warm-ups and money was raised through raffle ticket sales and collection buckets. £801.61 was collected on the night.
£300 has also been raised on the JustGiving page which remains open for donations.
