League allocations throw up questions

The Evo Stik League are having East and West Divisions next season

The provisional club allocations for steps 1 to 4 have been released, and like every year it throws up many questions.

For the first time, the make-up of the new Evo Stik East and West structure has been revealed. Brighouse Town have been effectively thrown to the wolves as they have been placed in the West section and are the only Yorkshire club in there. It means Vill Powell’s club have no money-spinning local derbies.

The East Division will see Frickley Athletic, Sheffield FC, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ossett United, Pontefract Collieries, Pickering Town and Tadcaster Albion all taking each other on.

The East Division line-up still throws up controversy as southern clubs such as Wisbech Town, Peterborough Sports and Stamford are in there.

It will be interesting to read the thoughts of Morpeth Town who face a four-hour trip to get to Wisbech.

For a semi-professional league which is meant to cover the North of England, the idea of such a fixture is absolutely crackers.

The full list of allocations can be seen on the Non League Paper website.
